Excellent 90mm Lens
Bought the 90mm APO lens to see how it compared to my Leica 90mm Elmarit-M. The Leica is a much older lens, but is well regarded for optical quality. On my Leica M11 there is no contest - the Voigtlander is a better lens. More consistency across the frame, sharper wide open, and the colors are very similar. No noticeable vignetting, no purple fringing, good bokeh.
The focus throw of the lens is short and smooth and the build quality of the lens is high - all metal and nicely machined. The lens is much smaller than the Leica but I do not like the bayonet lens hood. I realize you don't get small size without tradeoffs, but I do prefer the built-in hood of the Leica.
If you're looking got an alternative to the Leica, this is an excellent one. I'd like to compare it to the Summicron now and I think it can hold its own. Very nice lens.
